Voces Latinas offers OraQuick confidential HIV testing to the community. We offer the test in the office Monday through Saturday 10am to 6pm and Thursday through Saturday from 10pm to 3am out in the community in our mobile van.
Linkage to Care
The case workers at Voces Latinas work with individuals that test positive for HIV(or at high risk) . Case workers escort individuals to the hospital or clinic for their first three medical appointments with an HIV medical provider. They keep in touch with the individual and support clients through their HIV diagnosis. Case workers connect individuals with housing, health care, entitlements, mental health, and provide risk reduction counseling.
Immigrant Latinos often gain the trust of those venues they visit frequently such as bakeries or coffee shops, money exchange, restaurants, etc. For this reason Voces Latinas partners with such venues in order to provide information to Latinos about HIV prevention and the need to test for HIV. Venues are very well known in the community. They host HIV prevention information such as condoms, posters and palm cards about stigma prevention, the need to know your HIV status, and sexuality. These business venues are essential partners in the HIV prevention work because they have access to the community and help to educate Latinos about the need to get tested.
